It would be an easy on-boarding process that is seamless and a shoe-in; I thought. My first day in this new firm was anything but.

It was Asana + Google Drive + Discord + Google Calendar.
Sounds fun! Within the 1st hour of the call: my brain RPM was down to 1/10. Vision became blurred. A vortex swirled in the brain. But the world isn’t spinning. The disparity triggered a near vomit state. It’s like takin’ the lift to a 70th floor building and you look out. 1 minute ago everything was large. Now they are minute. As the brain adjusts the disparity: dizziness ensues.

I scrambled for a walk outside. But it didn’t seem real. This was ONE WORLD. But I just came out from FIVE Worlds! Deep into community in Asana. Deeper into Discord and all the ROOMS + CHANNELS: then multiple Google Sign-Ins bringing you into a different account (World)

I reached for an Ice-Cream cone; hopeful some relief in my throat would fan the flames in the brain. No avail. I walked to the jetty; hoping an expanse of land would help me decouple. It did. But 2 hours later.

I sat in the sofa in the office. Fell asleep. Woke up in 15 minutes. ‘What Happened?!’ Why would this process cause me so much mental fatigue?

Imagine being lost in a forest exploration and no matter what we turned: it looked the same: panic sets in. That we may never make it out.

Each software has its information forests: organic and chronological. You are afraid you miss something out and can’t do your work well. But the more you read and search and link up, the faster you drown mentally. Quicksand.
